OK, so it's a hat; so what. Well, I'll tell you what: I bought this hat in 1990, and a month later bought two more (all they had at the store). I wore those hats *everywhere* for the next 20 years: at school, on stage, out camping/hiking. I wore them in the sun and in the rain; when one got too ugly from wear, I replaced it with the next. In 2006 my toddler son stomped the last one flat ("Why?" - "I don't know"), and I pushed it back and wore it some more, because I couldn't find its replacement. Finally I bought another (maybe better) hat, but then found this: the exact same hat I have been looking for, just in different colors. And it's the perfect all-around hat, suitable for a touch of rugged grace.
So there you have it. All I ask is that it also be made in the colors that were available in 1990: pale khaki, grayish blue, and sage green. I'd buy all three.
